To agilely respond to the complex and ever-changing market environment and comprehensively enhance product innovation efficiency. On April 6th, Anhui Yufeng Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Yufeng Intelligent") invited senior IPD expert to conduct a training session on "Product Management and R&D Management IPD System in Practice." This training focused on end-to-end product lifecycle management, cross-departmental organizational collaboration, and the implementation of structured processes, aiming to help the company address core pain point in product development and enhance market competitiveness. The company’s management team participated in the training throughout.
This training session invites senior practical expert in the fields of IPD transformation, product planning, and R&D management as instructors. The focus is on addressing key pain points in corporate product management and deeply analyzing common challenges such as "unclear product definitions," "fragmented demand transmission," and "barriers to cross-domain collaboration." The course centers around the IPD system, deconstructing the four core processes: market management, product development, technical development, and product promotion. It combines the matrix collaboration model of four key teams—IPMT (Integrated Portfolio Management Team), PMT (Portfolio Management Team), PDT (Product Development Team), and LMT (Lifecycle Management Team)—to systematically explain how the end-to-end management system supports the dynamic coordination of technology and market. The course offers a methodological guide for building an efficient, collaborative product innovation system for enterprises.
At the organizational and process collaboration level, expert emphasized that a "highly matrixed organization" is key to supporting the full lifecycle management of products. By comparing the structural differences between functional, project-based, and matrix organizations, it was made clear that cross-departmental teams must be involved throughout the entire product development process. This begins with using the "Five-Step Method" during the market insight phase to precisely target high-value goals, by closed-loop control in the demand management phase through MRD (Market Requirement Document) and PRD (Product Requirement Document) frameworks. In the development phase, the "parallel development model" is used to break down departmental silos and enhance efficiency. Finally, before market exit, the Lifecycle Management Team (LMT) dynamically monitors market performance and formulates a scientific exit strategy.Through a practical case on the "CTO's Dilemma," participants explored how optimizing the allocation of responsibilities and strengthening cross-functional team collaboration can solve issues of process disconnection and resource misallocation caused by changes in product requirements. This ensures precise alignment between technological development and market demand, enabling efficient resource allocation and high-quality delivery of key requirements.
At the conclusion of the training, General Manager Xiang Weifeng, in his summary speech, emphasized that the core of the IPD system lies in "customer-centric" end-to-end collaboration. IPD is a business operation management system that guides companies toward commercial success. Through key roles such as product managers, PDT managers, and PDT teams, IPD ensures horizontal, end-to-end alignment across the organization, guaranteeing that the company’s business development plans are efficiently and qualitatively implemented through a scientifically structured organizational and process operation system.
Regarding future work, he proposed two key points: On one hand, the company’s management upgrade requires a deep understanding of Yufeng’s development history and a dedicated commitment to the pragmatic, focused, and action-oriented Yufeng corporate spirit, along with the core values of "learning, innovation, integrity, unity, responsibility, and dedication." Special attention should be given to the integration of cultural values for new members to ensure the team maintains high consistency in action principles, thus providing a solid driving force for the company's continuous development. On the other hand, he hopes all employees will adopt a rigorous and focused attitude, embody the concept of "learning to apply," and effectively transform what they have learned and thought into strong actions that drive progress. They should integrate system thinking into their daily work and lead team members to do the same, ensuring the efficient and high-quality achievement of the company's business development goals.
The road is long and difficult, but by persevering, success will be achieved. This training has deepened the Yufeng Smart team’s understanding of the core of the IPD system, laying a methodological foundation for overcoming cross-departmental collaboration barriers and enhancing product innovation efficiency. In the future, the company will use market orientation and customer value as dual engines to accelerate the deep integration of R&D management systems and IPD processes. This will be achieved through building precise demand transmission mechanisms and dynamic resource allocation models, continuously strengthening end-to-end management capabilities. At the same time, the company will deepen industry-academia-research collaborative innovation, driving customer cost reduction and efficiency enhancement through breakthroughs in core intelligent warehousing technologies. By relying on a regular talent development system, the company will cultivate a diversified talent pipeline. Ultimately, this will lead to a comprehensive upgrade in technology breakthroughs, management innovation, and ecosystem co-building, injecting sustainable momentum into the high-quality development of the intelligent logistics industry.
